    Today Hiimpact is celebrating World International Yoga Day! World Yoga day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly, after the majority of the world’s population adopting yoga as a part of their complete wellness regime. Yoga traces its origin from India, but it is not limited to Hinduism. Yoga teaches a way of living a disciplined life along with a sound mind and a healthy body. Yoga usually revolves around elevating the life force or Kundalini, located at the base of the spine. It has also been proved by researchers, that Yoga has healing effect in several diseases, improving immune system and mental health.  Doctor’s also recommend yoga, let’s read on to find out why?

    Yoga improves musculo-skeletal flexibility: Tight bones can strain the joints due to improper alignment and inflexibility; this can lead to poor posture. Stretching bones and muscles can improve flexibility keeping all the joints flexible and active.

    Yoga corrects posture defects: Smartphone, Laptops and Desk Jobs are so far contributing in damaging spine making an individual feel like hunched over. Heavy weight of brain is being held by spinal cord for nearly 8-12 hours. So, balancing brain on a right posture can be attained through yoga, relieving spine. Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and Vrksasana (Tree Pose)

    Yoga Improves bone health: It has been documented that, weight bearing exercise strengthen bones and helps in preventing Osteoporosis. According to a research conducted, downward and upward facing yoga posture empowers arm strength and prevents risk of fractures.

    Yoga Improves venous blood flow: Inverted yogic postures like: Handstand, Shoulder stand & Headstand improves venous blood flow from leg and pelvic region to heart. It allows higher blood pumped to lungs resulting in more and more oxygen received by the cells.

    Doing yoga Boosts immunity: Performing yoga increases drainage of lymph (fluid rich in immune cells), helps fight against infections and destroying cancer cells.

    Controls Blood Pressure: According to the two published data in the British medical journal The Lancet, Researchers compared the effects of Savasana (Corpse Pose) with simply lying on a couch. Result showed that, after three months, Savasana was associated with a 26-point drop in systolic blood pressure and a 15-point drop in diastolic blood pressure. So, Yoga can help lower hypertensive cases worldwide if performed accurately and daily.
